Engineering Software

The creation, sale, and support of engineering software is a specialty of DynaTech. Current development and sales activities include:

FEMRDYN (Finite Element Multi-shaft Rotor DYNamics)

Developed under an Air Force Phase II SBIR (Small Business Innovative Research) project, this program addresses a need for a modern analysis tool that can be used for advanced gas turbine technology. Significant features of this program include:

• Cross-platform graphical user interface written in 100% pure Java, capable of operation on most 32-bit computers (Win 95/98/NT, Unix)

• Advanced 6-degree-of-freedom conical beam finite elements

• Rapid model generation by use of graphical interface or import of free format data file

• Complete set of graphical displays and text file listings for all model definitions and results

• Multiple shaft capabilities for representing interactions between rotors or with structures

• Integral, state-of-the-art frequency independent magnetic bearing model including sensors, controllers, amplifiers, and both heteropolar and homopolar actuators

• Linear and non-linear support representations including squeeze films

The program is available for limited release. If you are interested in obtaining more information, please e-mail us to request more details.

Technical Sales Support of MSC/NASTRAN for Windows

DynaTech is an authorized technical sales agent for the Windows version of MSC/NASTRAN. This general purpose finite element analysis tool runs on Windows 95/NT systems, and features a modern point-and-click interface to create and process results obtained from the market leading MacNeal-Schwendler version of NASTRAN. As an agent, we provide in-depth support of the code, since we are not just salespeople, we use the program in our consulting business. For more information about the program, including why we selected it over the competition, feel free to contact us directly.

Custom Program Development

Are you considering the development or modernization of an internal or commercial engineering program, but not sure how to get it right the first time? Why not have us do it, or at least help you? We are skilled developers, proficient in technical software creation using Fortran, C/C++, PV-Wave, and Java languages, and we specialize in cross-platform GUI development. Send us the specifics of your application, and we will respond with our approach for no charge. How's that for a deal?

As an example of our abilities, you may download two different Java programs that integrate a system of first order differential equations. We use the algorithms in our rotor dynamics code. The programs are contained in a WinZip file, with the following contents:

1. A Java source file with the integration done entirely with double arrays.

2. A Java source file with the integration performed using
Jama Matrices.

3. An Excel spreadsheet that plots the displacements.

4. A text file that lists the results from using doubles and Jama.

Both source files integrate a 2 DOF spring-mass problem by converting the 2nd order system to first order. The software was written using JDK 1.2.2, however, it may work with lower versions. You may use these codes free of charge, as long as you agree to the following:

1. You give credit to DynaTech Engineering as the original author.

2. You assume all liability for use of the software.
